School 2 Energy Leaders

The “School 2 Energy Leaders” is a pilot programme whereby energy regulators go back to their secondary/high school to talk about the exciting world of energy. Some re-visit their old school.

Others meet the pupils of schools in the communities where they now live.

This new ICER programme was inspired by the successful Back to School programme of the European Commission, whereby hundreds of EU officials return to their old classrooms and speak with thousands of students.

We are turning our attention to the next generation to de-mystify the technical field of energy and who can do what, and promote diversity in the energy sector.

Mission

Worldwide movement whereby energy regulators make personal school visits to get in touch with the next generation of future, energy leaders.

Vision

Increase energy awareness across the globe and be in tune with the next generation by talking face to face with students. We hope to attract young talent into the energy sector.

Our Strategy

  • School 2 Energy Leaders Vision Increase energy awareness across the globe and be in tune with the next generation by talking face to face with students. We hope to attract young talent into the energy sector.
  • Our Strategy With energy regulatory staff going to schools, we hope students will learn more about the wide range of career options for girls and boys in the energy field. Putting faces to energy experts, students can start believing that “What You See, You Can Be”. In this way, we hope to help the next generation break the gender stereotypes that traditionally dominated energy, and help excite the curiosity of our youths in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects.
  • Importantly, the “School 2 Energy Leaders” programme offers young people a chance to voice their concerns with an energy expert who is keen to listen and learn from them so as to better shape the future direction of energy.
  • It would typically take the format of a class-room talk, but we are open to other formats. We encourage and welcome the presence of teachers during the visit and we would be grateful for any subsequent feedback from students and teachers alike.
